Sad but true! While remodeling our kitchen, we have found both lino paper and vinyl tiles glued down over a beautiful marble (solid, not tiles) floor. We have been delicately removing the lino/vinyl hoping to salvage the marble.

Does anyone know about solid marble flooring (circa 1950s) and / or have advice on this type of removal?

Currently we are using water to soak through the felt backing on the lino paper and are gingerly scraping the adhesive away with putty knives.

Thanks for the HELP in advance!

It's going to be tough, because lots of stuff can etch the marble.

it would be great if you can salvage.

kinda like when carpet is installed over solid wood.

what a find!
