I am planning to install hardwood flooring, and my home has a concrete slab. Most of my home is carpeted, but the foyer has ceramic tile. I removed the tile with a hammer and chisel, but I have to remove the thinset. Is there a power tool that I can use?

I am using a hammerdrill with a floor scraping bit. I rented both from my local Hardware store rental center. The floor scraping bit is about 4 inches wide and flat. It's a bit slow going, but it works.

a small electric chipping hammer with a spade bit will shave off that thinset (mini jackhammer).

for tougher areas that adhere well to rough concrete you can grind flat.

if you make any depressions, jsut fill in with a modified floor patch (Cement based, NOT gypsum based!).
