Bvflooring
We just remodeled my daughters bathroom to make it wheelchair accessible. We had non-slip Italian Porcelain tile put in for the floor and matching smooth tile to surround whirlpool tub. We are concerned about the care, cleaning, sealing, etc., of the non-slip floor. We would like advise to the best possible care. Floor will see alot of foot and wheel traffic. Tiles are 13 x 13. Thanks, Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Welcome to the forum.

I don't really have a definitive answer for you--other than I can be thought of as living proof of how NOT to handle this situation. See the following thread:

http://www.bobvila.com/BBS/Floor_and_Tile/3747/3747/flat-page1.html

I will mention that the type of stains might be different; as mine is in a kitchen, it's subject to coffee, wine, etc.

I never did go back and re-seal it. Somehow, other priorities prevailed (how does THAT happen :) But in my case the stains are removable with some non-scratch cleanser and some elbow grease. (Or, they stay there a while and become "character!")

So you are right to ask. And what I learned (maybe malarkey. maybe not) is that the molecules of the sealer must be small enough to penetrate porcelain tile. I know, I still need to take care of this myself--so if you find a great solution, please post back! :)

Hi again Kathy,

Hopefully you'll get some more posts on this thread--as I mentioned, I am interested as well!

Plus, you need to know what TO do--not what NOT to do! :)

Good luck on the project; please keep us posted.

Regards,
