I live in Montana and I own a house that has 25? year old siding that I want to replace. I am so confused about which siding to use. It has engineered wood siding on now. The western exposure has signs of mildew or mold and in some areas the paint is coming of in large chips. Moisture problem? In other areas the siding looks pretty good for it's age. Help! I've spent hours researching and still can't make a decision.

is it press board(like cardboard).likes to blow up when subject to wet conditions.
you could check into hardi siding. it is concrete based(heavy) and takes paint good and should be low maintenence.
but vinyl is so easy to do and requires no maintenence other than the occational washing from citys grime.
