I live in an apartment and my landlord has cheap sticky tiles on the bathroom floor. I told him to take them out because I once had those same tiles grow mold and leave a terrible odor. I have 2 kids, I don't want them to be exposed to that if it's dangerous. Am I being paranoid?

If they are not moldy yet, the landlord may be reluctant to remove them. Especially if there are worse materials underneath. Mold does not grow without moisture. So keep the area dry and well ventilated.
or you can pay to have the floor redone on your own.
the landlord doesnt have to do anything if there isnt a real and verifiable health concern present.
if you really believe your kids health is in danger why take the risk ... just pay to have the floor redone ... unless you are just trying to use your kids as an excuse to get the landlord to kick out the cash for a new floor you happen not to like.
