We are going to put ceramic tile down in our new house. It has linoleum over cement now. Do we need to take up the linoleum? If so can you tell me the fastest and easiest way to get it up?

- Tile over linoleum??
There are a lot of factors that can contribute to tile failure over lino so it is usuually best to remove it.
If a large area there are machines for rent that will scrape up the lino. Otherwise a utility knife and a lot of replacement blades will work. Score the lino deep in 2 ft squares then use a 4" wallpaper scraper to remove it. Pouring some HOT water over a bunch of slash score marks in the square will soften the glue after about 5 minutes
