We had a home built 8 months ago and we are starting to see gaps in the wood flooring. The wood floor is around a carpeted area and there's also some "bowing" near the carpeted area. We are being told this is normal due to the weather - we are in the SC area. Is this truly normal? I don't see this at my sisters house who's wood floor is 15 years old and lives in the same area. Our home is still under warranty so I want to be sure it's a normal occurence. We are thinking of bringing a wood floor installer (different than the ones who did the floor) to give us their opinion as well. Thanks!

this is not normal.

alot of fators can make gaps and bows appear.

If you are trying tog et ammunition to get your contractors to fix it, hire an independent hardwood flooring inspector.

they will supply you with a professional formal report for you to present to your contractor for a guarantee or warranty claim, and in the worst cases, be expert witnesses in a court of law.

Certified inspectors are considered experts in courts of law.
