We had a problem with our washing machine. For some reason the water did not stop while washing and over filled the tub. The water gone on the bathroom tile and the wall to wall carpet in the basement.
I cleaned up the water ontile floor with a wet dry vac in amatter of minutes.
The problem now in waal to wal carpeting. I am not sure what type of pad is under the carpet. The flooring in concete since this in the basement.
The wet area of the carpet is about 6 by 9 feet. The wet section represtnts about 25 % of the total carpet.
My wife wants yank everything. I am not sure.
If you place a towel on the rug is get wet immedaiately. If you walk with socks they get soaking wet in seconds.
I have a the de humidfilers on and have been working with a wet dry vac for hours.
The carpet seemd drier
Am wasting my time ?
What else should I being doing ?
This happened this morning

pull back carpet and cushion.
allow carpet, cushion, and substrate to completely dry.
use dehumidifiers and fans or floor dryer blowers.
reinstall if possible, or replace carpet and cushion if either is ruined.
