I am building a house and would like to know if cedar can be using for flooring. Is it strong enough? Is is pest resistant? I would realy appreciate your advice. Thanks

... but with its relatively low Janka Wood Hardness Scale rating, expect it to be distressed over time, giving that old world lived in look with lots of imperfections over time.

ratings also vary depending on the type of cedar, from 350 for White Cedar, 720 for Port Orford, to 580 for Yellow and Alaskan Cedar.

(for a comparison, Douglas Fir Pine has a haredness rating of 510-70 depending on area species)

no it isnt pest resistant ... no wood is pest resistent unless you buy treated wood.

in summary of you are looking for that perfect floor over a long time, go with a harder wood thta will resist wear ond indentation more.
