I am changing my laminate countertops to granite in the kitchen. However, I was told that the backsplash tiles might fall of if they didnt use the backer board. How can I tell if there is one before the demolition?

- How to tell if backsplash tiles have backerboard
At face value, that statement holds no merit. Backerboard would be a fine substrate to set tile on but in a dry area such as a backsplash, having drywall or backerboard is not the determining factor whether or not tiles would fall off. It would depend on the type and amount of adhesive used to secure the ti les to the wall in the first place.
