We converted a garage and installed a 5 foot french door. Full tiles existed in the dining room side and we installed engineered wood on the family room side. The tile and wood are flush so their is not need for a reducer. Question??? What is the best transition of the threshold. If we run wood all the way to the tile, about 2 inches of wood shows on the dining room side (tacky looking) when the doors are shut. Options we've considered are 1. and entirely different stone work for entire door threshold. 2. Or run wood to middle of door and then cut littler pieces of existing tile and make a pattern in the 2 inch space from the full tiles to the middle of the door.
