I've purchased 5/16" x 2 1/4 Brazillian Walnut. I'm however finding a lot of differences regarding the best method to install. I'm worried about splitting the tongue...and Bellawood is saying to use the Cleats or Staples...but also to glue. Basically running the gammit saying do what I want. Has anyone installed this type of floor..if so..what did you use and how did it work?
Thanks,

- Best method to installing Bellawood Brazillian Walnut
Hello dfoxhoven
You have two good options for installing the lower profile 5/8” through 5/16” thick solid floorings - “nailing or gluing”. Cleat nailers and staplers work well for the 5/16” flooring. When using a stapler use fasteners 1”long X ¼”crown or wide, when using a cleat nailer use 1-1/2” 20gage fasteners. Cleat nailers are most recommended for the harder species such as your Brazilian Walnut. Tongue spits are normal with the harder species; many installers will opt to glue these sizes down to minimize splitting by using 100% urethane wood flooring adhesives like Bostiks BBA or Mapei’s 990.
