Hi,

My garage door spring (torsion spring) has broken and I need to get it replaced. There is a lot of confusing literature on pros and cons of galvanized v/s oil tempered springs. It seems that those that exclusively use one or the other rave about the type they prefer and complain about the other one.

Which one would you recommend and why? From everything I have read about how tricky the job is, I am probably going to have a professional do it and the choice may depend on this decision since they all seem to be fanatically devoted to whatever type they use.

Thanks.

Go with the tried and true oil tempered. Studies show that they last longer.
