I need advice. I have a rectangular hipped roof. It has a ridge vent. The house is impossible and expensive to cool in the SC summers and the roof is only ten years old and is already in need of replacement. Because I'm replacing the roof, I'm considering adding suplimental venting so I'm not replacing the roof again in another ten years. My question is where would I add vents that would improve ventilation without interfering with the roof vent?

I would think that adding vents would help. But since you are already replacing the roof, I would talk to your Roofing Contractor to see what they recommend. I would only assume that more vents means more air movement and ventilation.
The more vents you have means there will be more air movement. I would talk to an Indianapolis Roofing Contractor and see what they think you should do. Have you contacted anyone yet?
