    I would not replace it, just cut about a third of the way into it from the bottom to relieve the tension, and then sister another right alongside of it, using construction adhesive and plenty of 12d nails Excellence is its own reward!

    Yep, that's pretty normal. The roof sheathing is pretty thin and the nails usually go thru. Just be sure they use as many nails per shingle as specified in the new hurricane/wind requirements for your area.
