Kathryn, I would need a better "picture" of your situation to say much. You might consider looking at the area in terms of where the water has to be to get inside your house. If you get the water away from the area, then it will not be wet. That sounds so simple but there are a lot of ways that water can get there. I would look at the possibility of water coming down from any roof, gutter and downspout areas near there, both inside or outside the walls. When you can rule that out, then look at changing the slope of your lawn near the house.
