I recently purchased a Mansard Victorian built around 1880 that contains the original plaster walls and ceilings. Here is my concern:
From what I can tell the walls and ceilings are in pretty good shape. I had a painting contractor touch up the cracks and replace any large areas with drywall, when needed. Should I have had all of the plaster removed and replace it with drywall? We are in the process of adding some expensive moldings and I afraid that a year or two from now the walls will crack and need repairing...we are also adding some expensive wall paper.
