Power Washing a house

My wife has added this task to my weekend honey-do list.
The rental agency has an electric one, 1750 psi and a gas one, 2500 psi. Is bigger better? What about the windows? My luck I would break one, two....
Also, what type of cleaner should I use? The rental guy said he uses some all purpose cleaner in a Purple bottle. ????
It is a 1890 Victorian, with wood siding.
