I'm a professional door installer and i tell ALL customers to never toutch the spring and cables or bottom brackets. Those thing can kill you (mostly the spring) i seen guys whith fingers cut off,face split open and so on. It maybe not be cause of your spring if the door not working propely, it can be a lots a things. Never use a screw driver for windins a spring, screw driver are temperd and brake it dont bent use ONLY a mild steel rod that fit good in the plogs, dont use rod smaler then the plog hole. Better, dont risk you fingers or live call a professional door intaller they know a spring cause they work with them every day.
