I would like to install a lift in my garage,the ceiling is 9 foot, the lift requires 12 feet of height.. The garage measures 30 feet long X 27 feet clear span,built with 2x4 trusses..My plan is to remove 3 or 4 trusses and support the roof with the overhead crossmember on the lift.The roof peak is about 14 feet high,so the cross bracing on each rafter could sit on the lift brace. Aside from code violations,would this pose any other problems. Or am I missing something simpler as a solution.
