use pine for floors in kitchen. most on the forem will advise against any type of wood floors in the kitchen. water and wood do not mix. although we have ,,knock on wood, had good success with our oak wood floors in the kitchen since a 1999 remodel. I would advise you go with ceramic tile or something else. good luck LJ
