Carpenter bees in fascia

We have a 1929 English tudor-style house in a wooded area. Each springtime, carpenter bees abound. The house is tall, and we're looking for a long-term solution rather than yearly pest treatment. Some homes here seem to have vinyl or aluminum trim and soffits installed under the eaves. Would that be a solution to the bee problem?
