The fish hook idea sounds like a good one. Use a trebel hook as BobB suggested. Wire it to the snake for strength.
BUT! Why are towels and shirts getting into the vent? Are you running the drier without a lint screen? I just can't vision how clothes are getting from inside the dryer into the vent pipe.
