I want to install a island range hood in place of what appears to be a bathroom type exhaust fan in the kitchen. The duct that exhausts to the outside is flexible plastic and about 4" in diameter. A six inch duct is recommended. Will the 4 inch work? Can I attach a 6" duct and pull it through with the existing one (the attic under this section of the roof is unaccessable, however I can access the exhaust vent on the roof.) Should the duct be metal? I realize I will need to hire someone who knows what they're doing, but I thought it would help in my discussions to have some initial information. Thanks
