Scratches on new polyurethane floor Posted by Bruce M on November 16th, 1997 08:54 PM In reply to Refinishing hardwood floors with polyurethane by Rudy on November 16th, 1997 08:42 PM [Go to top of thread]

Hi Rudy: Sorry about the scratches on your new finished floor. Some of the nice things about water based PU, is that it goes on easy, gives a lighter finish, does not emit strong odors and tools clean up in water. The one bad thing I have found with the water based finish is that even though it dries to the touch within an hour or two, it takes much longer to cure and harden. For me, it was 2 months before I could put a rocking chair on the finish without the finish marking and scratching. And from what I have heard, it sounds like its the same for all H2O based urethane finishes. Best Bruce M
