There is no magic formula to remove the set glue on your ceiling. Your best bet is to use a thin scraper to detach the adhesive. You may need a hammer to tap the scraper under each dot. There will be some minor ceiling damage, but it is repairable with a pre-mixed joint compound and sanding screen.
