I have a wooden gazebo in the backyard I suspect is made out of redwood. Just below the roof level along the wood are fairly deep holes that appear to have been made by insects. There is also a sticky looking substance draining from beneath them. What type of insects would do this and is there a way to treat and repair the wood along with a way to prevent this from continuing to happen in the future?
