They would have had to or I could not imagine they could stay in business. The new ones (our replacements) do not have as much sun filtering to them--now my duvet is faded. If I had it to do over again, I would have chosen Andersen's or Pellas. I know people who have had the same windows in their homes for 20 years and just recently had to start replacing them--not because they clouded, but because the frames had corroded. No worry about keeping a Hurd window till the frame corrodes--if the new ones are anything like their old ones, you will hate the window LONG before that happens! So far, replacements have cost us about $3500--we could keep going--the huge half-rounds we keep covered up with gauzy fabric. Good luck--Ann
