Is the carpeting loop or cut-pile finish? Also, are the glue spots pretty solid & contained on the surface, or are they smeared in & deep into the pile?
If they're on the surface and it's a cut-pile carpet, you can carefully shear off the glued fibers and comb/shave the area to restore the surface.
If the glue is deep into the pile (cut pile), use a knife blade to scrape off glue & separate the adhered yarns.
It does depend a lot on the finish of the carpeting; post back with a little more on this to get some further guidance.
