If you are going to insulate your slab. There are a couple of ways to do it. First you need at least 24" of 1" thick board. You can install it by laying it flat on top of the gravel or you can break it 12" under the slab and 12" in the ground. Also you can install it on the outside of the slab starting at floor elevation and bury it 24" deep. The most efficient is to lay all 24" under the slab.
