Stripping a whole house of woodwork

We just recently purchased an 1872 brick Italianate Victorian home. The woodwork has all been painted, some has several layers. It is pine woodwork and we would like to strip it. Is there any non chemical mechanical means of doing this other than a heat gun or cob blasting which is too aggresive for pine. Thank you
