how do I get rid of a musty smell in clothing cupboards?

Hi,
my husband and I have just bought a new house,unfortunately the built in cupboards,have a really musty smell.Could you tell me what I could do to get rid of that smell.As I obviously want to store clothes and stuff in them but do not want that horrible musty smell.PLease help?
