We are having a house built. It's a split entry with 1500 sq ft on top and 1500 on the bottom. The bottom is a "treated wood-basement" over concrete footings.
One of the corners of the concrete footings "settled" and took a nose-dive. This nose dive created a 2'1/2 inch gap between the footing and the base of the wall studs.
The footing is cracked approximately 10 ft back from the conrner (both directions).
CAN THIS BE FIXED?
They have not poured the basement floor yet so that was not affected. The main floor of the house is still level and did not settle with the footing.
The footing settled because they were pumping excess water (snow melt) from that corner of the house and it caused a "flow" that softened the soil.
