Brian,
Prior to doing any cosmetic repairs on the crack in the wass, Make sure the crack has stopped expanding. You can do this by getting a slide of glass, the kind used for microscopes, and epoxy it across the crack. 1 glob of epoxy on each side of the crack with the glass slide across the crack.
Take a look at it in 24 hrs, then 3 days, then 1 week and so on.... if the slide cracks, you still have movement in the cracked basement wall.
