Dave, my feeling is that you will be better off replacing the cabinets. After 20 years, you got your use out of them.
One suggestion is that you visit local cabinet shops as they often have a bunch of cabinets that somehow got misordered and they are willing to sell them cheap. If you know what you want as far as length, width and depth, you might be able to pick up a deal. You just never know.
