Sounds like the belt has stretched, broken or disengaged from an idler pulley. The squealing is similar to a fan-belt on a car when it is loose? The most likely problem is a worn or stretched belt. Unplug the machine and get access to the back, lower portion of the machine to inspect the belt. If it is loose, check the routing and look for an adjuster (think of the alternator in you car mounted on a slotted adjustment bar). If the belt is broken or stretched, buy a new one and install. You should be able to get one at almost any appliance shop nearby, but you must provide the make and model numbers.
