Two suggestions, Bill. The first is to always start a new question as a separate topic. Sometimes new questions get lost when you post under a topic even a couple of days old.
Second is that there is some kind of carpet or tile glue remover listed at www.kleanstrip.com under one of their many brand listings. I don't know the name or the active ingredients so I can not recommend it. This is just to let you know that it is there. A further thought is that if the active ingredient is methyl chloride, I would find something else. And I would not use acetone for any area cleaning in a basement. Any ignition source, like a furnace or water heater pilot light can ignite the vapors with explosive results. Paint thinner is bad enough and it should only be used with excellent ventilation.
