I am working on a project.....I have a 1900 sf garage that I am divided into 3 sections.... front section will be 2 car garage.....middle section will be guest room with bathroom...... and in the back I want a game room..... on to my question.... the garage currently has a drop ceiling and I want to remove that in the game room and have an open style ceiling.... however, the joist are every 16 inches and I don't think it will look good unless I can remove some of them..... is there a rule for this?.... or is it just a definite NO..... I don't want to do anything to destroy the building..... the joist are 2x6 redwood..... the house and garage are built as sound as boats..... please e-mail any advice to ncfordlady@hotmail.com.....thank you.
