Greetings HH,

Buy a zip tool at ant hardware store and unlock the pieces that you need to take off for the ledger board.

Place a piece of aluminum coil stock under the top piece of siding and let it overlap the lock on the bottom piece of siding. This is so the leger board never touches your house and any moisture will run into the butt of the vinyl siding and run out the weep holes.

Install your ledger board by first notching one end so you have a 3/4" X 3/4" end that will slide into the outside corner post.

After you install the ledger board, you should install the flashing over the ledger board.

When replacing the siding, measure down from the butt of the siding that is nailed to the house, down to the top of deck joist and then measure the piece that you are going to install from the bottom of the interlock down to the measurment you had from before and cut it 1/4" shorter. after you install the vinyl, you can place the decking up against the vinyl but, not too tight.

I would lag the railing post onto the decking joist so that you will not have to mess with any more siding.

Go to this site to show you more about how to work with vinyl siding

Good luck,
Jason
