Screw in hardwood floor Posted by B. Jones on May 11th, 2003 05:51 AM In reply to replacement by tomh on May 9th, 2003 11:03 AM [Go to top of thread]
I recently refinished the hardwood floor in my new apartment. It had been carpeted for many years. There were 75-100 nails and screws in the oak floor in the bedroom(I supposed to stop the horrible squeaks). I took them all out by hand and filled them with elmers wood putty, which was stainable, prior to sanding. It came in a tub that you cut the tip off, which made it very ease to fill the holes with. I used a white stain because there was years and years of stains on the floor. I finished it with a polycrylic finish, which was recommended by the maker of the stain. I could not have been more surprised and happy about the way it came out. It looks like it was made to look old, but in a good way. I thought I was going to have to use big area rugs to cover it thinking it wasn't going to come out that nice. But instead, I'm using the rugs to protect it because it came out sooooooo much better than I had expected. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
