Shed, gazebo, deck, arbor plans

As a general comment about shed and similar plans in general, it seems like magazines like Family Handyman have a building article about every year on building some kind of shed. There are also magazines that have nothing but shed and outdoor structure plans that are issued at this time of year. Obviously, they can't print the exact plans for every possible size or trim variation, but they usually do suggest how to do some variations. The plans in Family Handyman are excellent and do include buying lists and cutting lists. They usually offer some idea of cost and this is a really helpful feature.

Since you can go to a place like Barnes & Noble and look thru the MANY magazines they have before buying, that would seem to be a good starting point. Most sets of plans seem to have some kind of error, either on purpose or intentionally, but I'll bet that the money you don't waste on mis-cut wood will pay for a good set of plans from a magazine. I will also say that some expensive sets of plans don't always have the features that reasonably priced ones do either.

It also seems that the same magazines or magazines that are published by the same kind of publishing companies have articles on things like gazebos, arbors, decks and similar structures, and the same comments apply. For what it's worth, I designed my shed years ago to fit a particular situation but I built an arbor for my kid's place right from Family Handyman's plans. I want a Florida room instead of a deck.
