what is most important is the adhesive that you use. there are basically two types of outdoor carpet adhesives. one is water based, and one is a more expensive chemically manufactured product. i have actually had very good luck with both. both will seal the wood very well, and make water impenetrable. don't let anyone sell you a MULTI-PURPOSE ADHESIVE for an outdoor project. there are several styles of outdoor carpets, with various backings. some are porous, and some are not. but, as i said, the adhesive will serve as the primary sealer.(32 years as a flooring installer) Was this post helpful?
