I am moving into a house that has wood paneling (like the put in mobile homes in the 70's) on all of the walls. One room in particular had the same decorations on the walls for so long with the sun shining in that you can see their silhouette(birds and a square frame) on the walls. I want to paint the walls in a "white wash" fashion. Has anyone done this that can lend some advice? Will I need to sand them? What should I clean them with first? Because they are not "solid" wood, will this even look okay or will the "pressboard" style wood cause problems? Any advice? If I don't paint, can someone tell me how to get the walls to look good again? I like birds, but not like that!!!
