do a search on google with the words: reading a tape measurer .. this might get it, if not, get a cliffs notes book on fractions.
32, 16, 8, 4, and 2 are all divisible denominators that can be broken down to a more simplier reading. for example if your tape has 32 marks between the 1 and 2 inch marker then your readings are in 32. But the marker that is equally between the 1 and the 2 inch marker is 16/32 or simplier 1/2. 16 divided into 32 is 2, so the fraction can be reduced to 1/2. Its really simple IF you understand the fraction concept and the reduction of a fraction to a simplier concept.
