We recently purchased an older home (40 years) and there is hardwood under carpenting which was put down by the original owners. The wood seems to be in great shape, but sticky from the carpet pads. How do we clean it and finish it to get the sticky layer off and make it shiny. We don't want to have to sand it.
There is also hardwood on the second floor which was never covered. It has gotten darker, probably from dirt. How can we clean that. The floors seem to be in good condition.
