Your TubLiner installer didn't put enough butyl tape on the belly, that's why it left a gap between the two surface.
If done correctly, your existing tub should reinforce the new arcylic tub. As a result, your new tub liner should be very solid and shouldn't flex like you mention.
In your situation, I would definately contact BathFitter and notified the nature of your problem. Try to get a partial credit back for the job which wasn't done correctly. Tubliner is made with DR/ABS Acrylic, which is the same material used in Aerospace industrial. It is proven to be strong and durable. Therefore, I don't think the flexing will give you any problem. However, the flexing can be quite annoying. Hope this had help answering your question. Good luck!
