The plastic strip is attached to the back of the shingles to protect the adhesive tar strip on the FRONT of the shingle during transit and storage........
If the plastic remains on the back of the shingle ......no problem
If the plastic strip STICKS to the tar strip on the front of the shingle....... then it must be removed so the "tabs" of the shingles can seal to the shingle below.........
