Michael, before you bring barn wood into your house, have it kiln dried for a couple of days. There are some bugs out there that live in wood and the only realistic way to kill then is with heat. Dryness will slow them down, but heat--an internal wood temperature over 135 degrees F for a couple of days--is the only sure way to kill them. Sprays will NOT necessarily get to the bugs.
