overloaded circuit breaker: won't reset!

Posted by Pat on May 24th, 2003 02:11 PM

help...after a power consuming electrical device (an electric fitness treadmill) was plugged in & used & tripped a circuit breaker, I was unable to reset the tripped switch as it kept switching off immediately. Now my hallway, master bedroom, etc, circuit cannot be used until I fix the problem. I have already unplugged everything within the area, and have waited awhile for the cicuit to cool down (??). Do I need to throw the main switch off, replace a possible faulty breaker switch, or call an electrician about a possible rewiring job ??
