Good news! My piano technician has evaluated my piano and it is in wonderful condition inside! (If anyone cares....) :) Now to the work... I have to sand a lot - with a sander because of the large number of gashes and scratches in the wood - even after it is stripped. These gashes are so bad I considered applying a new sheet of veneer to just cover up the mess. There is even wood missing that I'm going to have to replace with new wood. My real question is - once I have it sanded smooth, is there a product I should use - like a primer - to apply? I got the message about the paste wood filler and will try that. What is the next step after the filler? (I will not be spraying the black finish myself. I will hire someone for that.)
Also, what levels of sandpaper should I buy? 150? 100? Even lighter? Thoughts?
Many thanks. I'll play you all a tune when I'm done.
